Mar 12, 2016 Three Things I Learned During My Red Carpet Weekend in LA Last month I traveled to LA for InStyle magazine's Oscar Viewing Party. The trip gave me a good excuse to get all the way glam and spare no expense to do so! As I prepared for my red carpet weekend, I learned 3 things: 1.The Best Way to Get Glowing is FreeThis tip is a no brainer... we all know the best way to get sun-kissed skin is to well, sit in the sun (after applying a great sunscreen with SPF, of course). But the fastest way to get glowing from the inside out is to use the time to relax. If you're like me, you might have a hard time freeing your mind of your many to-dos, such as register the kids for after school, cancel that Hello Fresh subscription... you get the idea. I spent 15 minutes poolside everyday. While I was there, I cleared my head of all the nagging thoughts about life's little details that steal my shine. Instead I focused on the beauty all around me. Not only did I get a beautiful spring tan, but I think a few of the worry lines in my brow softened... no botox required (no shade intended)! 2. Glamsquad Is Well Worth the Money Now every girl can have a Glamsquad of her very own, available at your beck and call. Through Glamsquad, a new app, you can get your hair and makeup done by a professional makeup artist who will come to your home, hotel room or any other place you may happen to be (available in NYC and LA). Before booking, I was a little hesitant, unsure of the quality of service I might receive (was hoping for more Kim K than Mary Kay-caliber). My #MUA, Michele, was great! She had just come from doing the makeup for the wife of an Oscar-nominated special effects guy (from the Revenant) and frequently does the makeup of my fave character from HBO's Silicon Valley. She was more than qualified. She made me look beautiful, and finished my application with her own line of toner that smelled good enough to eat, set my makeup perfectly and left my skin with a dewy finish. If you haven't downloaded the app, I highly recommend it. Use my referral code for $20 off your first booking. 3. Never Wear a Side-Zip Jumpsuit to an Open Bar Event Not much to say about this one besides... duh! I LOVE a jumpsuit. They're typically more effortless than a dress and super chic. However, the fact that it was difficult to get in to AND out of when I first tried it on, had it tailored, and then tried it on again, never once made me question my decision to wear it to the event. It wasn't until about an hour before I left for the party that someone asked me what I was wearing, and I excitedly gushed about my DVF jumpsuit. She said, "sounds pretty, but you're not going to be able to go to the bathroom." How right she was. I survived, and now know this jumpsuit has a three drink limit!
